Headshot Trailer: An Upside-Down Thai Crime Flick

Pen-ek Ratanaruang’s Headshot, not to be confused with the upcoming Walter Hill film starring Sylvester Stallone, is a Thai crime thriller with a rather unique twist. The movie stars Nopachai Jayanama as a hitman named Tul who gets shot in the head. When he wakes up in the hospital three months later, his vision is completely inverted and the camera reflects this by showing much of the subsequent action from his point of view. He sets off in search of his would-be killer.

The movie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival back in September where it was picked up for U.S. distribution by Kino Lorber. The first domestic trailer has apparently been online for a while but it is definitely worth a look. It showcases plenty of blood and violence, but it also seems to be heavy with symbolism and philosophical musings as well. Headshot will hit theatres sometime in 2012; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

One forgets that, though his vision is inverted, in time it will appear normal to him as the brain compensates this. There was a scientist who wore glasses that inverted his vision and eventually it became just as normal as regular vision. He said it was when he took of the glasses later than it nearly drove him to suicide.

Weak movie. It had a couple of interesting things at the beginning, but it became very dull and sloppy later on,. The defect they gave the main character is stupid too, it was seemingly just for the purpose of saying some silly dialogue near the end of the film. Hugely disappointing film as I had been looking forward to it quite a bit. Boring, predictable, and kind of dumb.

    what about that sex scene..

Yeah, like I said, the beginning was good. ;) I was glad she ended up being an actual chick; being a Thai film I was a little concerned I would end up seeing the old Sean, Jay, and Greg dangling between the legs once the clothes came off.

But Keith, you could still plug her in the Frank.
