The Divide Trailer

As I mentioned last week, The Divide is one of the many genre flicks premiering at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival later this month. Up until now, we didn’t know much about this movie aside from the fact that it is a post-apocalyptic tale from Xavier Gens, the director of the violent video game adaptation Hitman and the French horror flick Frontier(s). Now this week the first trailer has dropped over at Yahoo!, and it looks pretty intense… if maybe a little melodramatic as well.
The story seems like pretty standard stuff, with what appears to be a nuclear war wiping out New York City and forcing survivors to take shelter indoors. It takes place primarily within the basement of an apartment building, as a group of eight struggle to stave off hunger and in-fighting. When a team of men in HAZMAT suits locates them, they think they are saved… but unfortunately, things are not always what they seem. The Divide stars Michael Biehn (which, let’s face it, should be reason enough to see it), along with Milo Ventimiglia, Rosanna Arquette and Lauren German. It hits select theatres on January 13th, 2012; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
