The Avengers First Full Theatrical Trailer

Here it is… the first “official” theatrical trailer for Joss Whedon’s The Avengers, and it’s certainly a lot more substantial than the teaser trailer we saw at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger. It still doesn’t really give much away in terms of plot although it definitely lends further proof that Loki will be at least one of the major villains. There are plenty of quips, explosions and … did I mention quips? I’m pretty much okay with that though. It’s nice to see that the movie won’t take itself too seriously.

We also get our first glimpse at the new Hulk at the very end of the trailer, which looks a lot like the previous Hulk. I probably could have done without some of the Michael Bay-isms in the trailer (slow-mo helicopter blades, those annoying rumbling bass sound effects, etc.) but overall, I can’t really complain. What do you think, will this live up to its billing as the biggest comic book movie ever made? The Avengers hits theatres on May 4th, 2012; check out the trailer after the jump.

Looks pretty. Will be interesting to see how they cram all these characters in there. Rest asure that there will be an extended version on DVD.

  • Nice. But I think is one of those superhero movies that you can’t really judge it from the trailer. Because it’s missing the most important factor of a Joss Whedon project, the dialogue. I think were in for a treat when comparing it to other lame scripts for other comic book movies.

Looks pretty cool though I agree it does seem a little overly slick.

  • Bob Bobson

Something tells me Robert Downey Jr. will get on my nerves very early in the movie…

  • Niklas

    I liked it!

  • Looking very decent so far.

    Two names…..Joss Whedon

The first two X-Men movies weren’t too bad; however, with the X-Men being about a large group of mutants working together as a team, I couldn’t help but feel that Wolverine was somehow the main attraction. Why is that?… Because Joss Whedon wasn’t directing them.

When it comes to a “ship” load of big characters, Joss seems to make plenty of space for them all to spread there wings. Don’t know about this film being considered as the biggest comic book movie ever made but I’m fairly confident that it will be better than any X-Men flick that’s ever come out.

    I have faith in Whedon.

  • Well I commented on an earlier post where I said I was a “bit” worried. Now we see more…and of course it’s a slick package and looks very nice. I still have a few fears though…mainly that there will be just too many characters. I’d take Scarlett out for a spin any day of the week, but don’t want her to be doing acrobatic landings every 5 minutes. So overdone, that.

Plus Mark Ruffalo looks a bit rough, doesn’t he? And he’s younger than I am!
I hope it works, I really do!

Loving the choice of “We’re in this together now” in the trailer. Unlike the Tool song used in the Captain America trailer, it actually fits here.

  • This actually looks like a fun time. Sold.

  • Napalm

Looks decent. But does anyone think that some of the shots look very direct-to-dvd-esque? Maybe they didn’t gloss things up yet since it’s just a trailer.

  • Chris

Joss Whedon has no idea how to craft anything meaningful.

Looks bland to me. What will be remembered in 3 years time?

  • Drewsifer

Good enough really. I mean take it as it is, like The Bachelor Party only with super heroes. I garuntee we’ll have one of these people die only to be brought back with some sort of mcguffin. Bit really it’s exactly what it’s supposed to be. I think it’s a ear impossibility at this point to transcend any of the previous marvel movies.

  • Kasper

Looks awesome – I’m in! I had my concerns about Wheddon, as I absolutely hate Alien 4, but this looks like a fun time.

  • Nelson

I thought the trailer was pretty cool. Funny, witty dialogue, just like I expected. Action scenes that were probably devised with the fanboys in mind; pretty cool.

I am more anxious then ever for this movie, but still not quite as anxious as I am for “The Dark Knight Rises.

Its the Hulk thats going to be in the new TV series.

TV Hulk is going to have the same design and CG model from the Avengers to cut costs but not the same actor.
