So the fall TV season is now in full swing and a lot of the new shows have already premiered, but even if you aren’t finding a lot of stuff to get excited about, fret not: there are some pretty interesting mid-season shows premiering early next year as well. Perhaps the most highly anticipated one of all is HBO’s Luck, a horse-racing drama from NYPD Blue and Deadwood creator David Milch.

The show stars Dustin Hoffman as a crime boss with a serious gambling addiction who was just released from prison, along with Nick Nolte as a veteran Kentucky horse trainer looking for a second chance. The cast also includes Dennis Farina, Michael Gambon, Tom Payne, Gary Stevens, Kevin Dunn, Richard Kind, John Ortiz and Kerry Condon. If that’s not enough to get you excited, the pilot was also directed by Michael Mann.
