Premium Rush Trailer Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt

In traffic-congested cities, bike messengers are often the fastest and most reliable way to make a delivery. Their job is already pretty insane and dangerous enough as it is… but when one messenger ends up getting hired to deliver the wrong package, he soon finds himself in a whole lot of trouble. This is the premise behind Premium Rush, an upcoming action-thriller written and directed by David Koepp (Ghost Town, Stir of Echoes) that stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jamie Chung, Dania Ramirez and Michael Shannon.

While the idea sounds pretty cool to me, this trailer is quite shoddily constructed. The stunts and action sequences are overwhelmed by rapid fire editing and questionable CG effects, and Michael Shannon appears to be phoning it in as the villain of the film (maybe even more than in the recent 13 trailer). The fact that this movie is coming out in January is also clearly not a good sign… we’d probably all be better off watching Quicksilver starring Kevin Bacon instead. Premium Rush hits theatres on January 13th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

I gotta say, for a movie that is trying to make track bikes look badass, this looks pretty promising.
