Ask around and some may say that The Dark Knight is one of the best superhero movies ever made. The film is currently the eighth highest grossing movie of all time making just over one billion dollars worldwide. The Dark Knight Rises is the third film in Christopher Nolan’s Batman franchise and it is looking to tie up all the loose ends within that universe. Below is the first official teaser trailer for the finale and it certainly does its job by teasing the hell out of us.

The teaser starts off with some familiar footage from the first film Batman Begins along with Ra’s al Ghul doing the voice over. The first half just seems to be filler along with the title cards popping up here and there. Once we get to Gordon in the hospital bed the new footage begins. Gordon seems to be talking to Christian Bale… but as Batman or Bruce Wayne?

There are some quick glances of Bane who is played by Tom Hardy and the ending is not Catwoman. I thought that at first but after re-watching it turns out that we see Batman backing away from what seems to be a very muscular Bane coming into the frame. Nevertheless the trailer is good. I never like when a trailer is selling the film to you based on its past, like when the title card pops up and says, “The Epic Conclusion.” I always find that stuff cheesy, but I guess that’s what markets the film. It does its job of teasing us and it seems that Batman has his work cut out for him with the teaser poster and trailer looking like Gotham may be in jeopardy like it was in the first film. I know the trailer quality is bootlegged, but I will update it with the HD quality trailer when it leaks. The Dark Knight Rises hits theatres on July 20th, 2012.
