Disney’s Planes Trailer

So you thought we were joking back in February when we wrote about a Cars spin-off called Planes that is in development at Disney? Alas, we were not. This week a teaser trailer for the direct-to-DVD feature has arrived online to provide evidence of its existence, and it looks as predictable and bland as you would probably expect. On the plus side, it’s just great to hear White Zombie’s “More Human Than Human” being put to good use again.

As you can probably guess, Pixar is not involved in the film and instead the animation is being provided by DisneyToon Studios (TinkerBell). However, it seems that John Lasseter is involved in some way, probably as an executive producer. The voice cast is still unannounced with the exception of Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond), but considering that the trailer keeps getting pulled off YouTube, it kind of feels like everyone wants to sweep this project under the rug. I can understand why. Planes hits DVD sometime in Spring 2013; in the meantime, check out the teaser trailer after the jump and see what you think.

    and the sad part is that lots and lots of energy is going to be wasted to create this film based on such a lazy idea.

  • Oh come on, “More Human Than Human” was in every movie trailer for like 2 straight years from 1995-1997. I think the head-shaking ended long, long ago…

    I haven’t seen Cars, but I happen to think this is a cute idea. A plane that’s afraid of heights… all I’m saying is that there’s some comedy to mine here, for sure.
