Shark Night 3D Trailer

Along with Piranha 3DD, we’ve got another aquatic horror/thriller to look forward to this year. Director David R. Ellis (Snakes on a Plane) brings us Shark Night 3D, promising some cheesy fun and cheap scares. The story begins as any movie named Shark Night 3D would – with a group of young, good-looking college kids traveling to a lake island cabin for some party time. However, after one member of the group receives a serious injury, they learn that the lake has somehow been filled with massive, man-eating sharks! Now they must do everything they can to get to the other side of the lake without being eaten alive.
The trailer plays everything fairly straight, with little emphasis on humor. It’s actually kind of refreshing to have a film like this that doesn’t wink at the audience all the time. It reminds me more of something like Deep Blue Sea than another Piranha 3D. Of course, since this is only the first trailer, there could easily be a comedic bent to the film that simply isn’t being highlighted here. The whole mystery angle of the story seems like a nice element to throw in, provided it isn’t too convoluted or distracting. Overall, I’ll be kind of looking forward to this one when it hits theaters September 2nd. Take a look at the trailer yourself and give us your thoughts in the comments.
