my funny Malick story. I had never seen Thin Red Line so I as excited to get the Criterion issue. It has a title page that tells you to turn up the sound for full enjoyment. I got in to the first battle scene and soon the sound became very muted. I though cool, Malik is putting the audience in the position of a soldier with their eardrums blown out. 10 mins went by, 20 mins, 30 mins. I finally realized something was up. The film had blown out my protective fuses on my speaker cables. Ahhhh the life of a film freak - making stories in my head.
