When I mention ‘spotted colours’, I’m referring mainly to the consistent use of reds throughout the film, which definitely feels like a Giallo influence.

Travolta was really good here and it made me a little sad that he didn’t do more work in crime/thriller genre stuff before moving on to all the shitty shit.

I also got a bit of a giallo vibe from this movie, mostly in the lighting department. Giallo films were obviously heavily influenced by Hitchcock, especially Argento and Bava so it was interesting to see both those influences amalgamated into DePalma’s film. I didn’t realize Lithgow was in this but it was nice to see that he was a giant lump of ham right from the beginning of his career which I believe apexed in DePalma’s Raising Cain, the funniest split personality thriller ever made.
