Thomas Jane Joins Stallone in Headshot

News for Headshot, Sylvester Stallone’s upcoming hitman thriller, is coming in pretty steady these days. Last week, we learned that Walter Hill had stepped into the director’s chair and now we know that Thomas Jane will be co-starring with Stallone. Jane will play a young NYPD detective who teams up with Stallone’s hitman character for a high-stakes investigation. The news was revealed by Jane himself on the Arrow in the Head Podcast over at Joblo. He describes the script by Alessandro Camonas as “fantastic”, although apparently now Walter Hill is doing a rewrite. Read more of Jane’s comments on Headshot after the jump.

Of the dynamic between the main characters, Jane says, “He’s a hitman, I’m a cop, and we’re just opposite in every f*cking way, and we need each other to get this job done. And of course I’m like, ‘As soon as this job’s over, I’m going to take you to jail, you know, you’re a killer.'”

Everything we’ve heard about this film thus far has sounded like the kind of old-school action flick that Stallone has been specializing in for the past few years and Jane’s comments only add to that notion. I’m also liking the fact that Walter Hill is adding his own touch to the screenplay since he brings quite a bit of experience to that side of things as well.

So, now that we have the leads in place, what are your thoughts on Headshot? Can you see Thomas Jane and Sylvester Stallone making a good team?

Jane can pull it off. Anyone seen Stander? What a flick.

This movie is giving me a major boner. Tango & Cash for the new millenium.

Patrick: Young compared to Sly, anyway.

  • @ Patrick

Compared to Stallone, Jane is a baby.

Getting a kind of “The Killer” vibe here.
