I liked the movie enough to give it a 7/10, but it's still my least favourite of the series.

And fuck you guys, Scream 3 is my favourite.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying in regards to Scream 4. I felt that the movie really didn't know whose story it was trying to tell. The tag line set my expectations for something else, I'm not sure why. I thought we'd see new idea's and new characters taking on interesting roles. There is nothing in this movie that really pushes the series forward and it seems like the character of Sydney, not Nev Campbell, was bored of the going-ons. The character should have just stayed to the sidelines all the way through. I really thought the best new character was Kirby and I would have been very interested in seeing this character continue on in a 5 and 6 that are reportedly coming.

With that said, I did find enjoyment in the film, amongst it's flaws. It was consistently entertaining, and I was never bored. This movie was definitely better than 3, and is a good book end to the series, I'm really not sure how they'd do a 5 and 6 because if they do, it needs to be unique and different.

Should have given the directors chair to Alexandre Aja;
"High Tension" style. That would have taken an awesomely hardcore turn in the franchise. The more I keep seeing these trendy scream movies, the more they keep reminding me of some darker version of Scooby fuckin Doo.
