New to Theatres This Weekend: Scream 4, Rio, The Conspirator

In theatres this weekend we find out if Wes Craven can update the Scream franchise for a new generation and if he can repeat the success of its predecessors. Unfortunately he’s got some tough competition in the form of Rio, the latest DreamWorks animated production. How can you compete with an Angry Birds marketing tie-in? You can’t! Also in select theatres we have Robert Redford’s The Conspirator, the Danish war doc Armadillo, and the long-awaited yet poorly reviewed Atlas Shrugged: Part I. What will you be checking out this weekend?

    nothing out of those

I saw Rio with my 3yr old as his first film and although he fell asleep towards the end it was still a mildly diverting watch. Nothing special, only average. Jesse Eisenberg’s voice work is one plus point.

I’ll wait for netflix bluray for scream 4. Armadillo looks good, and I missed it at the recent CIFF. Didn’t fit into my schedule.
