Arnold Schwarzenegger to Join Kim Ji-Woon’s Last Stand?

Although many fans seemed somewhat disappointed by Arnold Schwarzenegger’s unveiling of The Governator animated series last week, the good news is that he is still continuing to look for roles in movies aimed at grown-ups as well. This week both Movieweb and /Film landed an inside scoop on the movie that might mark his triumphant return to the big screen, and it’s definitely something that would be worth getting excited about if it actually happens. Word on the street is that he is currently in talks for the English-language debut of Korean director Kim Ji-woon, the man behind such films as I Saw the Devil and The Good, the Bad, the Weird. Read on to find out more about the role that Arnold would play.
The movie in question is a crime thriller called Last Stand, and it is being set up at Lionsgate through producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. The story revolves around a bordertown sheriff who must stop the leader of a drug cartel from making it back to Mexico after he breaks out of a courthouse. Oh, and there’s something about the drug dealer driving a “super car” as well. Sounds like a job for The Governator, right?
Schwarzenegger would play the role of the sheriff, taking over for Liam Neeson who left the project a few months ago. An offer has supposedly been made and the ball is now in Arnold’s court. His last major role on screen was in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines back in 2003, but he also had cameos in The Expendables and Around the World in 80 Days. What do you think, would this be a great way to revive his Hollywood career?
