Watch Four Minutes of Green Lantern Footage from WonderCon

Ever since the release of the questionable first trailer back in November, things have been fairly quiet on the marketing front for Green Lantern. With so many comic book movies hitting theatres this summer, Warner Brothers clearly have their work cut out for them, and they have been planning their next step very carefully. This past weekend at WonderCon in San Francisco, they finally unveiled a new four minute video showcasing plenty of new scenes in an effort to win back the hearts and minds of fans. So, did it work?

One thing that you will notice is that there are almost no traces of humour in the video, and they focused on making the movie feel very epic. The new footage is chock full of CG and special effects, and I have to admit, I am really digging the sci-fi elements of the movie. I can only imagine that the story must seem pretty ridiculous to outsiders, but I guess that’s the benefit of releasing a video that is targeted specifically at comic book fans. For the most part, the effects look pretty cool, but if you ask me, the CG suit itself still looks terrible. What do you think, does this new footage change your mind about Green Lantern? The movie hits theatres on June 17th; check out the WonderCon trailer after the jump.

I am sure the effects will look awesome in 3d. As long as “funny” aliens for comic relief do not appear I shall like this movie.

OK, I’m totally interested again. Also the CG city looks 10X better than the Valhalla does in Thor.

I didn’t have any interest in the movie until I watched this, now I am in 100%. Looks awesome.

Pretty cool…definitely better than the first trailer which looked like a bad comedy. I’s still not a 100% sold on the movie but this definitely encouraged my interest.

Would have like to skipped over the “…green lantern’s light” recharging oath…still seems kind of corny no matter how you treat it.

But overall a much better trailer than the first.

I’m already looking forward to seeing a “Blackest Night” storyline in the sequel or maybe sometime down the road. Even an animated version of “Blackest Night” from DC would be cool.
