Definitely a slow week for new releases on DVD and Blu-ray with very little of interest outside of the three major titles, but I suppose we’ll have to make do. You can see Christian Bale’s Oscar-winning performance in David O. Russell’s The Fighter this week, plus the Jennifer Aniston / Jason Bateman comedy The Switch and Clint Eastwood’s latest film Hereafter (which was recently pulled from theatres in Japan due to the tsunami scene). Other noteworthy releases include the Oscar-nominated documentary Waste Land, Criterion Blu-rays of Yi Yi and Au revoir les enfants, and one of Nicole Kidman’s earliest films, the goofy and enjoyable Aussie family film BMX Bandits (previously featured in our Forgotten Films column).
