if Pixar was cool they would do a 20 min RedBand featurette of their Cars in the ROAD WARRIOR universe. Cars raping each other, swapping parts, and fighting for gas - that's a universe even Jay would support!

Well...they show them walking in the Cars 2 trailer as well. That's exactly why I brought it up. It doesn't make sense. And I HAVE seen the first Cars but I don't recall a gas pumping scene (movie was forgettable). Still, whether or not they show it isn't the point. It's just a ridiculous universe that falls apart the second you question it. It's an unintentional parody of the cliches and tropes of this brand of CG movie.

I am in full agreement on Cars 2, it looks fukcing terrible awful unfunny garbage cashgrab shit.

But now I understand why no one likes Cars... they haven't actually bothered watching the movie! It is so full of lush detail that it takes several viewings to get it all. They show how they pump gas in Cars 1. They show them "walking" in Cars 1. Nitpick fail.

I'm not sure motion capture was the main reason Mars Needs Moms failed. 3D prices definitely had something to do with it, that and someone at Disney thought it was a good idea to bankroll a 150 million dollar movie with Seth Green in the lead role.
I've gotta side with Sean in regards to Mr. Wiseau. It would seem from the progression in interviews that he WAS serious in the beginning and quickly realized that the movie was being taken as a joke and subsequently changed his tune.

I saw the movie for the first time about 2 years ago and when I looked up interviews with the guy it was pretty apparent that he was taking himself very seriously. Over time he's changed his story and now claims the film was a joke all along but that seems pretty unlikely to me.

Either way he's making serious bank off the phenomenon so all we can hope is that he makes another attempt at serious film making and fucks it up in an equally interesting way.

I'd like to see him the movie he made as an attempt at straight comedy, "Neighbors". It probably ends up being the most embarrassing, hackiest thing you've ever seen and doubles back on itself from being pathetic to hilarious.

It's all the funnier if he's not in on the joke!

Here's some links to a couple other Wiseau appearances:

Tim and Eric "Pig Man" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofAkQBWnndU

The House that Drips Blood on Alex promo: - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fS1-xMQMbsM

Funny episode... thanks for the chuckles and guffaws.

I enjoy The Room quite a bit. There's often little that interests me in so-bad-it's-good movies, but this one is just so bizarre that it's a must-see. I agree with Sean -- it feels like something made by someone who only superficially grasps American culture and Hollywood filmmaking. I'd go further though: it feels completely alien - every aspect of the film is baffling... every line, performance, set, and sex scene. It feels like it was made by someone who doesn't understand how human beings speak and behave. In this regard, it's thoroughly compelling.

I definitely definitely think that when Tommy Wiseau made the film, he was doing so with the sincere intention of making a serious film. It was only after he saw it blow up with the midnight movie crowd that he started to capitalize on its unintentional humor. He describes it now as a "dark comedy," which I can't imagine he originally intended it to be.
