Last year 50 Cent tweeted some photos of himself looking disturbingly skinny and emaciated for a movie he was working on called Things Fall Apart. In the movie, he plays a college football player who is diagnosed with cancer, and he apparently dropped 54 pounds for the role. Clearly he has started to take his acting career a little more seriously, and he is hoping that this extreme physical transformation can earn him some respect and credibility in Hollywood. So will this performance put him alongside the likes of Christian Bale and Robert De Niro? Well… probably not.

A rough trailer for Things Fall Apart has hit the internet this week, and it looks pretty damn terrible. As many people have pointed out, it comes across looking like a bad made-for-TV movie, although it certainly doesn’t help that the video is poor quality and audio mixing is all over the place. It’s sad when you see someone go all out for something that just isn’t worth the effort. Not only do I feel bad for 50 Cent while watching this, I also feel bad for Ray Liotta and Mario Van Peebles (who directs and co-stars in it). But hey, maybe it’s just a bad trailer? Things Fall Apart will be released sometime in 2011, and I’d be pretty surprised if it doesn’t go direct-to-DVD. Check out the trailer after the jump.
