Is Marvel Planning an Inhumans Movie?

We’ve been hearing for a while now that Marvel is planning to dig deep into their back catalog and put together some less expensive superhero movies based on a few lesser known titles. Some of the names that have been rumoured include Luke Cage, Dr. Strange and Iron Fist, in addition to solo films for supporting characters like Nick Fury, Black Widow and War Machine. Now this week we are hearing that they might have another superpowered “team” headed to the big screen, and it’s one with a heavy science-fiction twist. The Inhumans are a race of superbeings who were first introduced in the Fantastic Four comics, but eventually got their own series as well. They occasionally team up with Earth’s superheroes but are primarily concerned with more intergalactic matters, and now Marvel is eager to give them their very own movie.
Devin from Badass Digest recently found a post on a Hollywood tracking board stating that Marvel is currently seeking pitches from writers on an Inhumans feature film. According to the write-up, however, they are planning to rework the story just a little bit. They see them as aliens who were put on Earth as a sleeper cell in order to eventually take over the planet, but who end up assimilating in order to avoid war. Funny… that kinda sounds like a bunch of other alien movies that are currently in the works elsewhere in Hollywood.
In the comics, the Inhumans are a royal family who live according to strict social hierarchy, and they have formed their own city on the moon called Attilan. They are led by their king Black Bolt, and his family members Medusa, Karnak, Gorgon, Triton, Crystal, Maximus the Mad, and the dog Lockjaw. They were created by an alien species called the Kree who were at war with the Skrulls millions of years ago. Yeah, it sounds like there’s some pretty goofy stuff here, but I hope it doesn’t all get wiped out in the big screen version. I’m guessing there are at least a few comic book fans who might be upset about that. What do you think, could an Inhumans movie actually work and is this something you’d like to see from Marvel?
