Bad Teacher Red Band Trailer Starring Cameron Diaz

Here’s the latest comedy to try and sell itself based on a particularly foul-mouthed red band trailer. Bad Teacher stars Cameron Diaz as Elizabeth, a junior high school teacher who definitely does not set the best example for her students. Not only does she let F-bombs fly, but she also drinks and gets high and just generally hates her life. When a new male substitute teacher from a rich family (Justin Timberlake) arrives at her school, she sees an opportunity to win over the man who can support her for the rest of her life. Assuming she can beat her female colleagues to the punch, that is.

I have to say, although I like a lot of the people involved in this movie, the trailer seems to be trying way too hard and I don’t think Cameron Diaz is right for the role at all. Her character’s mean streak just feels so forced. It’s cool to see Phyllis Smith (The Office) playing her friend Lynn, and the script was written by The Office writers Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg, but then again, these guys also wrote the disappointing Year One. Jason Segel co-stars and Jake Kasdan (Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, The TV Set) is in the director’s chair. What do you think, will this be funny or are all the best lines in the trailer? Bad Teacher hits theatres on June 24th; check out the trailer after the jump.

I like the cast. I will be seeing this.

  • Yeah I’m in. I like Jason Segel A LOT and I’ve gained respect for Cameron Diaz and JT too. If its even close to how wonderful Walk Hard was I’ll go see it three times and buy a copy for me and my friends. Did I mention I liked Walk Hard?

PS Wouldn’t it be great if Jack Black had a cameo playing a certain mr shneebly?
