Quentin Tarantino’s First Film: My Best Friend’s Birthday

Most people know that Quentin Tarantino’s first feature film Reservoir Dogs debuted at Sundance in 1992, but five years earlier he actually directed a black and white film called My Best Friend’s Birthday which was co-written by his friend Craig Hamann. It was never officially released, partially due to the fact that over half of the film was lost in a fire, but some of the ideas would later resurface in his screenplay for Tony Scott’s True Romance. A surviving 36 minute cut of the film screened at a few film festivals, and has since made its way onto YouTube. Interested in seeing where Tarantino got his start?
