Weekly Poll Results: Most Anticipated Blockbuster of 2011

Last week we asked you guys what your most anticipated blockbusters of 2011 were and offered up a plethora of possible choices. While I won’t bother listing the results for all twenty films (you can see the full poll results here), I can say that it was a pretty tight race all around. The winner by a nose was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2… who would have guessed there were still people out there who cared about this franchise? (I kid, I kid.) J.J. Abrams’ Super 8 was a close second, followed by Captain America: The First Avenger, which seems to be the 2011 comic book movie that people have the highest hopes for. Surprisingly, the movie that placed dead last in the poll with just 2 measly votes was Cars 2. Could this be Pixar’s first big misstep? Nah, we all know it will probably be their biggest movie yet.

1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 — 12%
2. Super 8 — 11%
3. Captain America: The First Avenger — 10%
4. Sucker Punch — 7%
5. The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn — 7%
6. The Hangover 2 — 6%
7. The Muppets — 6%
8. Thor — 6%
9. X-Men: First Class — 5%
10. Green Lantern — 5%

    >>”who would have guessed there were still people out there who cared about this franchise?”

For a month ago i was just like u. I had not cared about the franchise, and had not seen any of the films at any point. Then I saw the whole franchise with my Potter-fan brother. Even though i didn’t like most of them that much, it was still worthy entertainment. I know the same crowd that likes Transformers or fucking A-Team likes this, but i don’t think that changes the fact that it is a bit better than the average Hollywood-film out ther (again, its not that great, but its enjoyable, and i’m not bored by all the annoying CGI).
To be honest, i only really liked The Prison From the Alcatraz best. Who knows why I have this sudden facination of the series (i still hate the fans and the hype its got. But it’s much better than the 10 years i have spent dismissing it in my head). I really can’t think of any good fantasy films coming out that often. The last that did was The Fall, and the last before that The Lord of The Rings.

When you review HP8 (and YOU WILL review HP8), please do not reacquaint yourself with any of the previous films… your review of HP7 was the standout review of the year and the comedy that came from the vitriol spewed by the fans was absolutely golden.

For me there are only 3 movies on this list: Potter 8, Super 8 and The Muppets. 2012 is when I’m loosing it: The Hobbit, Mendes’ Bond, Bird’s MI, Dark Knight 2 and Trek 2 to name just a few!!!
