2010 Film Junk Readers Choice Award Winners

Some of us might see more movies on a regular basis than others, but let’s face it, when the end of the year rolls around, everyone enjoys weighing in with “best of” lists — which is precisely why we started doing the Film Junk Readers Choice Awards five years ago. Once again, we have divided the year’s cinematic landscape up into categories, and nominated five films for each based on our own feelings, in addition to critical reception and public opinion. After that, we left it up to you guys to pick the winners. Now that the votes have been tallied and the winners have been selected, it’s time to find out what the Film Junkies enjoyed most in 2010. Check out a complete rundown of the results after the jump!

  • Burgus

4% Greenberg. What.I think it was the The best movie of 2010. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo over A Prophet ? Come on. The girl with the dragon tattoo is a bad tv-movie with horrible acting. Its just like an episode of Law and Order SVU mixed with Cold Case.

  • Falsk

‘Inception’ as Best Film of the Year?? oh, Film Junk readers. You amuse me.

Also–Sean, I didn’t realize you had ‘Fockers’ as an option for ‘most anticipate release’. You jokester.

  • Berserker

Best action movie. #1 and #2. Suck on that, Jay.

  • Goon

in the action category I take bigger issue with the people who somehow thought the Expendables was better than the A-Team…

  • Justice

The fact that Scott Pilgrim and Kick-Ass ended up that high just shows how desperate the “geek” community is to have itself be pandered to. Also surprised that Shutter Island beat Black Swan, which for my money is the best movie of the year.

  • Black Swan did well considering its limited release – it doesn’t even open in Europe ’till next month.

All the action movie choices here were quite bad, so… (actually I didn’t mind Machete. Pointless as it was)

  • rob

extremely surprised at the best movie of the year being so one sided
other than that the results are what id expect and deserve

  • KeithTalent

Bah, lots of crappy results here people. I am disappoint.

Oh well, at least Shutter Island won something and Exit Through The Gift Shop was awesome.

Mother and A Prophet are both far superior to anything else on the list and it makes me sad to see Easy A on ly get 4th for comedy. :(

  • Fatbologna

    Goon,

THANK YOU! The Expendables didn’t hold a candle to The A-Team!

  • The Man

Yes! Kick Ass number 1 with Scott pilgram a close 2nd. Suck it Cheel! Don’t cry over good cinema.

  • cronenfly

kick-ass was one of the worst movies of the year for me. best film of the year is a tie between the social network/shutter island. i liked inception, just not as much as everyone else did. black swan was great too.

  • Everyone complains about the current year being average but there were certainly some great highlights in 2010. In fact the last few have been fantastic.

If anything, beyond The Tree of Life, 2011 looks to be a dud. I look forward to the Film Junk rundown.

  • Greg

Clearly Burgus at #1 has gone insane from syphilis.

  • Burgus

How could you say that Greg. Not Syphilis. Ive gone insane from AIDS. Pretty cool! But the girl with the dragon tatoo is still a shitty movie.

  • Greg

Well said, but the Dragon with the Tattoo Girl was awesome.

  • I’m delighted to see that Splice came in second in the sci-fi category with 6% as I feel like I’m one of about 17 total people who loved that movie and one of about 4 people who probably voted for it here.

  • Sebastian Kirchoff

Inception as number one? Either you people are stoned or haven’t seen enough movies. I can list five films released this year that are better than Inception.
