Fast Five Trailer Starring Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson

Just when everyone thought The Fast and the Furious franchise was all but dead, Vin Diesel returned and breathed new life into the series. Fast & Furious grossed $353 million worldwide, the most out of any installment, which meant only one thing: there was going to be a sequel. Now Dominic Toretto (Diesel), Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) and Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster) are returning for “one last job”, only this time they’re being chased by federal agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson).

The movie takes place in Rio de Janeiro, and finds them going after a corrupt businessman / drug lord who wants them dead. Of course, there are still plenty of fast cars involved, and no shortage of death defying stunts. Normally I’d say this is one blockbuster I probably won’t be seeing, but then again, I did end up seeing the last one and this trailer doesn’t look half-bad. It certainly seems to be upping the ante in terms of action and set pieces. Fast Five is once again directed by Justin Lin, and kicks off the summer movie season early on April 29th. Will you be along for the ride? Check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

  • I had no idea what was going on. I can definitely see how it will appeal to the people who give a shit about the franchise though. I’m sure it will bring them all in.

  • FoxMulder

Well, frankly, there are not many possibilities about what could be going on in a Fast and the Furious movie, so there is no need whatsoever to “enlighten” the audience about that!
Looking forward to some cool camera in the action sequences, otherwise not very excited.

  • Colin

Looks like they’re planning on going back to the fun of TFatF:TD after the melodrama of F&F.

I’m sad there will not be any Lucas Black yokelisms in this, though :(

  • Fuck. Yes.

  • Steve Kasan

Ridiculous is not even the correct word to best describe this. And of course, it has to be One…Last…Job!

  • Matt

I’ve always hated this franchise, mostly because I hate the kind of people who like movies like this, but I have to admit, the action sequences looked pretty spectacular, if somewhat ridiculous. I may catch this on dvd.

  • Where’s Lucas Black?

  • BigHungry

Looks better than I thought it would, but is all the good stuff in the trailer?

  • Phil

    What?? It’s not in 3d??

  • Wow Matt, hating people for liking a movie you don’t…talk about taking things a tad too far. Get out of your mom’s basement a bit more often and realize there’s more to life then just movies.

This entire series has been good, guilty pleasure, fun. I always await the next entry in the series.

  • Mike

I hate those movies too…but i liked this trailer.

  • Matt

    @Slushie Man
Thanks for pointing my post out. Also thanks for assuming I live in my mom’s basement. “Hate” is a strong word and I shouldn’t have used it. Fair enough. Also, I don’t hate anybody for liking something I don’t. I dislike the type of people who watch movies for only the modded cars, the frat-boy chodes. If this offends you, sorry.
But yea, the first Fast/Furious movie is one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. Haven’t been interested in the series until this trailer.

  • Brendan

The title “Fast Five” seems lacking. They should have gone with “Five Knuckle Shuffle” instead.

  • Strand0410

The Asian guy from Tokyo Drift is in this, despite dying in the 3rd movie. Now before you say “This is set before Tokyo Drift”, there’s a Nissan GT-R in that trailer (2008) while the 3rd movie came out in 2006. This is a hideous anachronism.

It’s like the filmmakers don’t even care if the movie has anything to do with cars anymore and are just going through various weird capers with cars shoe-horned in.

  • Derek

    I’m there!

  • Derek

Just because the movie was made in 2006, doesn’t mean that it took place in that particular time. If you noticed, throughout the entire flick, there was no insinuation on when Tokyo Drift happened.

  • Lee

    whys it called “fast five?”
yer ok it might be the 5th movie made but if it supposed to be befor tokyo drift why not call it “fast four!” or somthing like that
