Getting closer to that milestone! I think episode 300 should be titled The 300.

  • Napalm

I need to get cracking on my remix entry…

  • swarez

    Re: Rare Exports.
You guys are idiots. Fantastic film.
Jay, you are over thinking it.

I believe it’s a cultural difference, you guys don’t have any mythology in your culture as it’s too young while us Europeans have a shit tonne of christmas tales where they were cautionary tales to begin with, where santa punished the wicked.
The wallet thing, it was the wallet from one of the excavation guys not the naked old dude.

  • Brendan

Just started listening, I think Paige Davis originally left Trading Spaces to star in a musical on broadway, don’t know about the sex tape though.

  • Frank

Yeah was thinking over the wallet thing after. It makes perfect sense. Pretty embarrassed for not putting 2 and 2 together on that one.

  • Nice, Hey all filmjunk listeners don’t forget the FilmJunk crew this holiday season. I just sent them a little love through the paypal section. Help keep Sean sane and Reed away from tainted Star Trek chocolate.

  • Much appreciated Rus. You have just helped us fund a new pair of headphones to replace the ones Frank broke yesterday!

  • Greg

Frank has a large melon head.

  • David

The young lesbian who became a dragon in Narnia grew on me. I liked her by the end of it.

  • Niklas

where can I see rare exports: a christmas tale?

  • You can watch the shorts here:

The feature length movie is touring around to select theatres in the U.S. right now. Dates are here:

Not sure about the rest of the world. There are links to the other distributors on the official site:

  • Niklas

    thanks Sean!

  • Dave

I have that same edition of E.T. That whole no words on the spine thing does actually piss me off a little bit. The only movie on my shelf with no indication of what the movie is.

  • you guys should start doing kickstarter or indigogo campaigns for some of your reality / film projects

  • rjdelight

The epic DVD discussion will long be remembered and talked about. Instant classic!

  • I’m thinking maybe we should start a Kickstarter campaign for the “Upgrade Sean’s DVD collection to Blu-ray” project.

  • As to war documentaries, I recommend John Huston’s three.

  • And is Jay high?

  • antho42

What song is the one plating in the Outro?

  • antho42

What’s song that’s playing in the Outro?

  • Narby

Sean I love film junk and have all the episodes downloaded and noticed that there were 2 episode 87s 87- the departed and 87a the Texas chainsaw massacre the beginning. Doesn’t this make the next show episode 300 rather than 299? Not trying to be a dick, love the show, just curious.

  • Narby

Actually a better question might be why were there two #87s? As I’m sure it was 87 and 87a for a reason. We all know you are infallible.

  • Elder Wand

Frank and Greg bitching about Miley Cyrus not being hardcore enough due to smoking a ‘legal herb’ is bs. Miley was smoking salvia and eventough it is technically legal it way more hardcore a drug than marijuana, it is one of the most powerful hallucinogen in the world. Clearly you have never smoked it or you would never even think of putting it down as a ‘pussy herb’ compared to pot

  • The outro song is Vietnam by Crystal Castles.

Narby: Good question, I don’t really remember how we ended up with two episodes that were numbered 87. I know that we retroactively started assigning numbers around that time, and before that we had just been labeling episodes by date. One day it just kind of became a podcast standard to assign each episode a number so we just jumped on board that bandwagon.

Either way, yes, technically we’ve probably done more than 300 episodes by now, especially if you count some of the specials and bonus episodes. But since this is the official count we’ve been using for the past few years, we’re sticking with it!

  • llaurus

Totally embarrassed myself when I saw Black Swan and the trailer for Tree of Life played on screen. Totally let out an audible gasp and did flappy hands. I’m not even particularly excited about the movie, I’ve just been hearing about this trailer/movie for years now, it was a shock to see it.

  • Steve

    Elder smokes pussy herb.

  • Berserker

I love the way Sean pronounces Legolas. Lego-Lass. LOL

  • Jay is fucking funny.

  • Greg

Here’s that Top Chef breakdown I was talking about.

The Red Hots are for my mommy.

  • COmpletely agree with you guys on Rare Exports. It’s a movie for 12 year olds (minus the ear bite and old penises for three seconds). But I don’t think a 12 year old would even get into it because it takes SO FUCKING long to get going. The setup is 45 minutes for zero payoff. Turning it into the Neverending Story at the end was completely lame.

  • pcch7

I wanna see a video of Jay, Greg and Frank sort through Seans dvd collection and trade them in for blu-gays.

  • Prozac

Thanks for answering my question. I load up my droid with both recent and older podcasts and I forget that you guys or Gregg haven’t really talked about Tim Hortons or donuts in a while. It is easy to not realize that some of your conversations haven’t taken place in some time when I am listening to them for the first time. Best $2.00 I spend a month!

  • paul

Interesting to hear you guys talk about ratings. The whole rating thing is not the issue, it’s the theatres refusal to show stuff surely?

In the UK we have U, PG, 12A, 15 AND 18.

There is no audience stigma attached to an 18, cinemas have no issue showing an 18. The concept of movies for an adult audience not being carried by a cinema is totally alien to us. I suspect it’s the same elsewhere in Europe.

  • Rolf

Man, I hope my mail about upgrading the dvd collection didn’t caused you any trouble, Sean… I was really getting worried when the others started picking on you… well, maybe you wanna share your collection (do you have dvd profiler or other programs to display your collection?) with us and we could help to decide what you really should upgrade ;-)
Would be a nice contest… the titles being named the most you’d have to give away as prices or sth. … well, I’m just dreaming, I guess ;-)

Anyway, maybe you could really post a pic of your collection in the forums or give us a link to your online collection… I am sure this would get interesting!

  • I’d post my collection online but there’s no easy way to do it right now. I just have it in an Access database on my computer.

I’ve been looking for a good DVD organizing solution since DVD Spot shut down. I’m not really a fan of DVD Profiler and other off-line solutions… to me it makes sense to do this online nowadays and I can’t believe the best alternative out there is, which is ugly as hell. And I don’t think it has an import option either.

Incidentally, I have found two Windows knockoffs of the Delicious Library program Jay mentioned, although I haven’t tried either of them out.

  • Rolf

I really like the DVD Profiler but as it costs 30 $ to use it properly I understand not using it at all. I have used DVDaf for some time but I agree: it’s not that good especially as it lacks many non-US releases. Thanks for the links!

  • I think I might take a day over the holidays and properly catalogue all of my DVD’s and Blu Ray’s into Delicious Library and upload my collection online for Film Junk listeners/readers to peruse and criticize.

  • Paul

there must be a ton of android and iphone apps that use the barcode scanner facility and instantly update your PC/Mac database, no?

Reason #4022 Why Frank is awesome:

Driving to Pizza Hut listening to the Inception Soundtrack …

Keep it up Frank – Thanks for all the laughs.

BTW, Rickey Jackson – – Good Linebacker for the Saints.

  • Oscar

About movie raitings, in Latvia (Riga) Kameron’s Avatar was rated as a movie for audiences starting at age of 7 and up. I presume that it was rated more like a cartoon than a movie.
