Film Junk is Nominated for the 2010 Podcast Awards… Vote Now!

So this is pretty cool… for the second time ever, Film Junk has been nominated for the Podcast Awards in the Movies / Films category. What’s even cooler is that for once we’re not up against any Harry Potter or Firefly podcasts either. We are, however, up against a Star Wars podcast and Filmspotting (among others), which will be tough competition. Either way, it’s nice just to be nominated.

From now until December 15th, voting is open to the public, so if you want to help spread the gospel of Film Junk, just head over there and give us your vote. You don’t have to fill out every category if you don’t want to, and you can vote once a day, so I’ll send out a couple more reminders over the next two weeks. We probably don’t have a chance in hell at winning, but hey, it’s worth a shot, right? Also, while you’re over there, why not check out some of the other nominees as well? Thanks to the good folks who run the Podcast Awards, and thanks to all of you guys for listening. It makes all the hard work worthwhile.

  • I’m well aware. Every time we upgrade it just becomes more work to maintain, and I don’t have the time or the knowledge to do it.

    It is a good thing indeed that Filmjunk isn´t up against Firefly or Harry Potter. Huge fan of Firefly but I can´t really get into those podcasts, except the interviews.

    I think I voted. When I pressed submit, it said I had already voted.
    The only other podcast I voted for was Comedy Death Ray. For straight up comedy, it’s hard to beat. I also like Doug Loves Movies, but I figured Film Junk could use the votes. Plus, you get bonus points for having been doing this a lot longer than most of the other podcasts out there! Hope my vote (did I actually vote?) helps!

    I enjoy regularly listening to 3 or 4 film podcasts and they are all informative and entertaining. However, none have the sheer variety, informed debate and lighthearted humour of Film Junk.
    When I also consider this brilliant and regularly updated website, I have no difficulty in choosing Film Junk as my number one in this category.

    @Sean – Have you considered dropping the “pretty permalinks”? I don’t know how much traffic you guys are getting but I had the same problem of the database going down all the time. I was told by my host after some serious investigating that it was the permalinks that caused the heavy load. I dropped them and now my site gets twice as much traffic with no problem.

    it is indeed fortunate that FJ isn´t up against Firefly or Harry Potter.. I don´t think they´re that awesome though, I´m a huge fan of Firefly but I can´t really get into the podcast. The podcast hosts are somewhat boring to me.. Especially when I´m used to Film Junk´s explicity, which is a good thing btw, however they do have some good interviews with people involved in Firefly and Serenity.

    Voted, just in time! Besides Film Junk i voted for TRS for best vidcast and would have voted Weekend Confirmed for best gaming podcast, but it wasn’t on the list.
