Monday Morning Box Office Report: Harry Potter Hangs On to Top Tangled

Disney’s Tangled really gave Harry Potter a run for his money over the Thanksgiving weekend, as the animated film just narrowly missed out on topping the box office but still managed to earn the second highest Thanksgiving opening ever with $69 million. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 dropped a massive 60% from its first weekend but still remained on top, while everything else trailed far behind. Burlesque had a disappointing $17.2 million opening, good enough for the #4 spot, while both Love and Other Drugs and Faster flat out bombed, opening outside of the top 5. Faster, in particular, had the weakest opening weekend for a Dwayne Johnson movie ever. Was it poor marketing or were crowded multiplexes to blame?
