Mean Girls 2 Trailer Starring… Tim Meadows

I still haven’t seen the original Mean Girls, but it seems to qualify as a chick flick that has found a strong cult following outside of the usual audience one would expect for such a thing. It doesn’t hurt that it was written by Tina Fey, and that the humour in it is both dark and clever. Now, with the recent success of Easy A, it would appear that the time is right for a Mean Girls sequel. Unfortunately, I don’t think this direct-to-DVD cash grab is really what anyone was hoping for.

The story involves a high school outcast named Abby (Jennifer Stone) whose father bribes a new student named Jo (Meaghan Martin) to befriend her. The two then take on the school’s “mean girls” aka The Plastics. Of course, these aren’t the same mean girls since none of the original cast members are returning, with the exception of Tim Meadows. Poor Tim Meadows. Mean Girls 2 is directed by Melanie Mayron (In Treatment, Greek) from a script by Elana Lesser and Cliff Ruby (Balto, Barbie as Rapunzel). It hits stores on February 11th; check out the trailer after the jump.

This is lame. I miss Lindsay Lohan :(. Hopefully she will do Mean Girls 3.

Is Filmjunk even allowed to discuss chick flicks?

  • Maopheus

I suppose the criterion for determining if a film is worthy of Filmjunk is if you would actually review it. Since I highly doubt you would review it, it’s not worth discussing.

  • Mean Girls is great, yea that’s right I said it. This however looks like garbage.

  • Mean Girls isn’t a chick flick btw.

  • Jackson

Thanks god this film got made… for Tim Meddows’ sake.

  • Werner

I also quite enjoyed Mean Girls. It had a great screenplay and good acting. I will pass on the sequel.

I feel so sorry for the actors in Mean Girls 2. Don’t they know that they can never follow the greatness of Mean Girls? This movie will suck FOR SURE!

this movie was so lame. I was bored from the begininng to the end. Why do people think that a good movie always needs a sequel? I mean if the sequel was actually good then this would be another story, but this was a tragedy!
