Marlon Wayans to Star in Harmony Korine’s Next Film

Harmony Korine’s latest film Trash Humpers caused a bit of a stir on the festival circuit last year due to its odd and disturbing content, and now that it is out on DVD, it has become the focus of another minor uproar as Netflix is apparently refusing to stock it. It seems like a pretty random place to draw the line, especially considering some of the edgy stuff already on Netflix, but I guess these kinds of things just tend to happen to Harmony Korine. If you want to voice your discontent, you can join this Facebook page, but in the meantime, we’ve got another intriguing scoop regarding the casting of Harmony Korine’s next project. It turns out, he’s got a big name lined up to star in the form of Marlon Wayans… and something tells me this is going to be a little bit different from White Chicks 2.
Pajiba first broke the story via their Twitter feed a couple of days ago, but the rumour has since been confirmed by The Wrap. The movie is called Twinkle Twinkle, and Wayans will play a “former hitman who dresses up in a dollar bill costume.” Hey, maybe this does sound like a Wayans Brothers comedy after all!
When you stop and think about all the talented thespians out there who might want to take a risk and work with a wacky director like Korine, Wayans isn’t the most obvious choice, but it’s not the craziest thing I’ve ever heard either. The guy starred in Requiem for a Dream and The Ladykillers, and has aspirations of doing more than just low brow comedies. Wayans is also starring in the Richard Pryor biopic Is It Something I Said?, which I believe is currently shooting as we speak. What do you think, could a collaboration between Wayans and Korine end up producing something cool?
