Scream 4 Trailer (Updated)

After a handheld bootleg version leaked online from the Spike TV Scream Awards a day or two ago, we finally have a better quality version of the first teaser trailer for Wes Craven’s Scream 4. I know a lot of people can’t wait for this flick, and although I’m not totally feeling the excitement, watching the teaser definitely made me feel a twinge of nostalgia for the ’90s. Just seeing Neve Campbell on screen again was a rush… she basically disappeared over the past decade, and I’m still not sure why. It’s also cool to see Courtney Cox and David Arquette return, and a whole host of new faces bringing Scream up to date including Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere and Kristen Bell.

This time around we get Rory Culkin spelling out the latest trends in the horror genre for our benefit, which has always been part of the fun of the Scream series. I suppose it’s a good way to stay relevant, even if the concept is no longer quite so cutting edge. What do you think, does this look like the sequel you were hoping for, or will it be just another lame rehash? Scream 4 hits theatres on April 15th, 2011; check out the trailer after the jump.

Update: The official trailer from Yahoo! is now embedded below.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Why is it coming out then too? Why not hold off until October of next year?

it’s weird to see everyone older…but yeah it was a good ride when it came out. Bit of nostalgia on my end too, but I’m this movie won’t be a rush movie to see when it comes out.

I thought the guy with the mustache was the killer in the first one..

It’s nice to see that there’s actually a bonafide sequel coming out to an old franchise. I mean, you’ve got the original director, writer and cast and the damn thing is actually called Scream 4. Don’t see things like that nowadays. This could have easily just been another shitty ‘reboot’. For better or worse I’m glad we’re actually getting a sequel.

  • Really bad release date, and nothing here that seems super promising, but I can’t help but be excited for this film. I hope they bring back Jamie Kennedy somehow. Also, Rory Culkin hasn’t aged well. Cute kid and amazing young actor, but he looks Columbine awkward now.

  • I will definitely check it out. Since they have brought so many people back, it does make it something I want to see. If they had a bunch of new randoms just trying to hold onto the franchise, then not so much.
