Monday Morning Box Office Report: Wall Street Collects Top Earnings

Out of the three major releases this past weekend, Oliver Stone’s Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps took the top spot at the box office, earning a solid 19 million. Despite mixed reviews, the film managed to beat more family-friendly fare like Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, which took the second highest gross with 16.1 million. Apparently, few families were interested in the owl-centric movie; even the 3D factor failed to help it. In it’s second weekend, Ben Affleck’s The Town held strong, falling only 34% for a total of 15.6 million for a third place finish. Easy A also showed a good second weekend, falling to fourth place with 10.6 million. In fifth place, You Again debuted with a less-than-stellar 8.4 million, which seems just as well. To wrap things up, it’s worth noting that, in its 11th weekend, Inception remains in the top 10.
