It’s been difficult keeping up with all of the casting announcements for X-Men: First Class, as there are clearly quite a few characters involved in the movie and not much time left to finalize the line-up. Matthew Vaughn is expected to start shooting sometime next month, and there have been a whole lot of deals made over the past week, some with recognizable names, and some with relative unknowns. Most notably, Mad Men star January Jones has landed the role of Emma Frost, despite rumours that either Rosamund Pike and Alice Eve were the top choices.
Other roles that have been cast this week include Rose Byrne as Professor Xavier’s colleague and ex-girlfriend Dr. Moira MacTaggert, Jason Flemyng as Nightcrawler’s father Azazel, and Lenny Kravitz’s daughter as Angel Salvadore (not to be confused with Angel from X-Men: The Last Stand). Oliver Platt will also star as a mysterious character known as “The Man in Black”, who is not believed to be a mutant. Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass) was rumoured to be in talks to play Cyclops, but this has apparently been debunked. How do you feel about these casting choices?
