Spot on review Jay. It’s also one of my favorite docs. It completely mind fucked me for a documentary when I saw it as a teen. Definitely need to revisit this.

One of my favourite docs. I watch it often, it’s like angry, disappointed, weird comfort food in documentary form.

Great review, Jay. This is one of my favorite movies of all time, and, coincidentally, I just watched the blu-ray last night. Crumb is such a highly watchable character, even as he comes across at most times like a highly neurotic curmudgeon. The exploration of the human condition, as you mentioned in your review, is what I found magnetic about this movie. You can see the mental pathology in Crumb’s family and how Crumb himself narrowly escapes the depths of this pathology through his artwork and fame. It’s fascinating and desperately human.

I haven’t dug into the extra features yet, but I’m looking forward to checking out the Ebert/Zwigoff commentary track.
