Tony Scott to Direct Mark Millar’s Nemesis

After seeing the trailer for his latest film Unstoppable, and reading about him possibly adapting a John Grisham novel, believe it or not there was even more Tony Scott news that broke over the weekend (and I didn’t even report the earlier rumour about him being considered to direct Wolverine 2). It looks like he will be directing a comic book movie after all. Writer Mark Millar was hyping up a secret announcement over the past week via Twitter, and was finally able to reveal to the world on Saturday that his latest comic book Nemesis has been acquired by Fox and that Tony Scott is currently attached to direct. This could be pretty interesting…
Millar is, of course, the same guy who dreamed up Wanted and Kick-Ass, and from what I hear Nemesis is kind of along the same lines. The idea has been loosely explained as follows: what if Batman was actually The Joker? The story follows a billionaire genius who is hellbent on avenging the death of his parents — the difference is that he is a super villain instead of a hero. The art is drawn by Steve McNiven and it is published by Icon Comics, although there are only two issues out so far.
From what I understand, Tony Scott has quite a few projects to choose from for his next film, so this won’t likely happen right away. Still, when you think of both Wanted and Kick-Ass, Scott is a great choice to make a similar over-the-top action flick. I wasn’t a fan of Domino, but I can see that crazy editing style being put to good use here. Has anyone out there read the comic? Are you looking forward to a big screen adaptation of Nemesis or are you sick of Mark Millar?
