10$ says Reed ratted Greg out on the lawn thing.

    Well done Reed.

  • I don’t think Reed’s lawn is in much better shape…

Regarding the Film/CGI question. The effects are put in in a digital medium as the negative is scanned at a certain resolution so both the CGI and the film elements are the same. It all depends on how high you scan your negative.
But Star Trek The Motion Picture director’s cut hasn’t been put out on Blu Ray because the film was remastered in a much lower resolution. Which basically means they have to do it again if they want to release it again.
Film is never just “film” these days as all post production has gone digital so the only chemical it comes in contact with after filming is during the development of the negative.

If you guys like Dirty Work, check out Screwed

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0156323/

Norm MacDonald, Danny Devito, Dave Chapelle. Much, much funnier than the already hilarious Dirty Work, in my opinion.

  • I don’t remember Screwed being as good as Dirty Work but I haven’t seen either of them in quite some time.

  • Since I have nothing better to do now, I’ve been keeping my lawn nicely mowed. It’s weed-infested, but at least the weeds are short. The by-law in our area states that weeds can’t be higher than 20 cm on your property. I don’t live near Greg, so I don’t care what kind of weeds he grows.

And shades of Shyamalan’s “The Happening,” our area of Canada is having a problem with giant hogweed that on contact can burn you and cause blindness! It’s 5-6 m high! Parts of Europe, especially England, have a problem with this weed. Let’s hope Greg doesn’t add to his list of ailments by being attacked by giant hogweed.

“It’s weed-infested, but at least the weeds are short.”

    Classic Reed.

“I don’t live near Greg, so I don’t care what kind of weeds he grows.”

Of course you don’t – everyone knows you don’t live in a trailer park.

Thanks for the great comedy Reed.

  • Greg

I live in a trailer park? I didn’t even know my house had wheels.

A trailer park would better than living in Ottawa anyway.

“A trailer park would better than living in Ottawa anyway.”

    OWWWWWWW !

I just have to take a shot at ya because you’re “LFC”.

Hey – How they gonna do this year ? Top 3 ?

Has Netflix officially hit Canada?? Alot of the films Jay mentioned are available on Netflix Watch Now.

  • Nope, not available in Canada yet.

  • that Africa shit is crazy – the whole film is on Google video. low resolution but I don’t know if I could handle high resolution it’s weird, because some things look staged (gunfire sound effects don’t help) then there are scenes that in no way could be staged…or could they?????

Thanks for the links Rus, I was trying to find that for rental, but did not see it anywhere. Did not even dawn on me to try and watch it online.

As for The Other Guys; I liked the movie overall and thought Wahlberg was really good as the straight man. I did want a bit more absurdity as those are the things that I love about about Ferrell/McKay films. I have a feelign there will be more of it on the Blu-ray once it comes out (fingers crossed).

Pretty good product placement for coke in “And God Spoke”. A mockumentary about making a movie about the bible. They run low on money so Moses holds a six pack of coke with the ten commandments.

  • any word on the next Cantankerous?

  • I lived in Ottawa for a couple of university work terms in the ’80s, and I absolutely loved the city. I miss ice skating on the Rideau Canal.

As for Cantankerous, although we recorded it a week ago, I think Jay is having a hard time “sweetening” my vocals. Compared to me, William Hung sounds like a music diva. My only excuse is that Jay was playing guitar and sped up the laid-back Western tempo of the original “My Rifle, My Pony, and Me.”

Greg lives in a trailer park. I’ve seen a 7season long reality show about him and it was awesome.

    Hardy-Har-Har.

  • Primal

That freeze-frame shot was cool and it has recently been done in the Leverage show promos that is being shown down here before the films at any of the Regal Cinemas.

After seeing that shot, it’s no wonder that the Editor got the 1st credit in the opening.

  • Mark In Ottawa

Imagine that – Greg in a trailer park. It’s nice to know they keep the Liverpool fans in one area in every town.

Reed – I knew that you lived in Ottawa for a while. The ladies still brag about your “skills” …..

As for Jay sweetening your tracks – Jay is a master. He can’t be rushed. He’s Kubrick with a Vincent Gallo haircut.

  • Napalm

    Jim’s remix was hilarious haha.

    Great episode guys!

  • Film is never just “film” these days as all post production has gone digital so the only chemical it comes in contact with after filming is during the development of the negative.

To further what Omar is saying, I believe Spielberg is the only person who refuses to go digital in post. Which is odd cause his buddy Lucas would snort CGI if it was physically possible.
