The Avengers Teaser Trailer

Sorry to disappoint, folks, but this isn’t really anything worth getting worked up over. Still, it’s The Avengers, so you’re probably interested, right? Apparently there was a short announcement trailer that Marvel showed at the San Diego Comic-Con last month, and now that trailer has found its way online.

There is no footage, no imagery, and really nothing for your eyes to see other than The Avengers logo, and nothing for you to hear other than a voice over by Samuel L. Jackson. I’m not sure if Marvel’s going to be pulling this off YouTube or not, but I don’t see a reason why they should bother. The film’s official website is also now operational, so head over there and, uh… stare at that logo a bit more. The Comic-Con teaser is embedded after the jump. Enjoy!

I liked that teaser when it came out for The Dark Knight….

the logo is rather dull….but serviceable ;)

  • Maopheus

He should have said, “On that day, the Avengers assembled.”

A teaser trailer with no footage for a film that was announced years ago (and has already been teased in the related Marvel movies) seems pointless to me.

Well if you think this isnt news… Why post this stupid item???

Marvel must think people love their product so much as to get excited with this. This sort of thing annoys me. In Iron Man 2, Samuel L Jackson appeared seemingly out of nowhere and the movie just acted like it was normal with no explanation.

-Hey wait a minute. Who the hell is he?
    -Nick Fury
    -Who?
-You know. He was after the credits of Iron Man. You’d totally know who he is if you sat through 15 minutes of credits like normal people don’t.

Marvel shoehorning in ridiculously useless bits of information into their movies (RDJ in Hulk, Thor’s Hammer in Iron Man 2, Nick Fury in Iron Man 2) is ridiculous. Hell, let’s even forget the shameless Captain America shield in Iron Man 2. If they think they’re the next JJ Abrams by ‘leaking’ utterly pointless ‘teasers’ like this online, they’re pushing the loyalty of their fanbase.

They just took the Fantastic Four logo and replaced the 4 with an A! Lazy bastards.

Steve, if you think the general public is that unaware of Marvel’s properties then you’re mistaken. Nick Fury is, of course, on the outskirts of public knowledge, at best. But your statement flies in the face of EXACTLY what Marvel is trying to accomplish by creating a cohesive universe (like the one that exists in their comics) in their films. It’s like saying that you found Inception silly because they showed dreams in a movie that everyone was watching while they were awake.

So that noise in the teaser…you know that air that sounds like a deep breathing going on in the background. well it sounds like vader to me. and what would be kick ass but it would never happen – but it would in my alternate reality if i could make one that is….is the avengers battling against darth vader and his forces of evil as they invade earth. and yes. that is a weird melting pot. but it would be intense.
