  • Regus

Nice, thanks for my disco fries letter guys!

  • geeze Sean, thanks for spoiling Salt for me! seeing tonight…listeners beware!

  • KeithTalent

There is not much to spoil in Salt, I would not be too worried. They really needed to spice up the writing a bit, maybe pepper in some more hand to hand fighting.

I forgot Grave of the Fireflies will be on the next Movie Club podcast; very fortuitous timing. Now I just need that copy of Wizards to arrive soon.

  • “not much to spoil in Salt… spice up the writing… pepper in some more hand to hand fighting”. Bonus points for wordplay.

Rus, if you’re referring to what I said about the trailers being a bit misleading, there are still plenty of other twists beyond that.

  • bard

Great, great episode. Greg’s stories were hilarious.

  • bramb600

    Great podcast as usual.

As a response to the brief Family Feud discussion, Steve Harvey is the new host starting next month.

  • schizopolis

The French original Dinner Game was hilarious! Not a classic, but more like a great 3 episode sitcom. It’s really short and pretty much 90% of the movie takes place in an apartment in Paris. And the ‘schmuck’ in this version was perfect. From what I saw in the trailer of the new one, a costumed and made-up Steve Carrell is no comparison. I can definitely wait for the dvd release for Dinner with Schmucks…just looks like a longer and broader version.

  • Mark In Ottawa

Harmony Korine should do Total Recall.

  • On name changing, I’ve had some jobs in my youth which required name tags. I don’t like customers/random people knowing my real name so I always wore a name tag that said “HAN.” And people actually thought that was actually my real name (including some of the people I worked with).

  • I kind of thought The Dinner Game was a little lackluster. It had it’s moments but was a little too dry even for my tastes. Dinner for Schmucks looks too dumbed down and kind of a waste of time.

  • I too am one of the few allowed to bash Twilight because I’ve seen it. Which is enough to make me never want to see any of the other sequels.

So glad you didn’t decide to go against the grain on this one because you’re right: it’s fucking terrible. I like the way it looks but the acting and screenplay is absolutely retarded. I can’t decide if Pattinson makes me wanna laugh or vomit when I see him.

And while I’m baffled that there is such a huge fan following, I have to admit that it took me a while to be able to admit to myself that SW Ep 1 is shit.

  • Jay mentioned it briefly, but Wayne’s World has some of the best product placement in a movie ever. Instead of trying to be clever, they are simply blatant about it. They actually talk about product placement in movies sickens them and that how people are sheep, etc all the while being completely garbed out in Reebok clothing or whatever. Awesome clip:

  • Andrew, that product placement scene is even better on blu ray. Those labels just pop!

  • Falsk

Oh my LORD. Jay’s review of Twilight + Greg’s background laugh track = BEST

Walking home from the train station laughing my HEAD off … so good.

  • schizopolis

Was laughing my ass off during Jay’s Twilight review especially when he said why would a 150 yr old vampire fall for a 16 yr old girl. Then “Let The Right One In” later occurred to me…

  • Jozh

Sean – I am pretty sure the song from the Sucker Punch trailer is “The Crablouse” by Lords Of Acid circa 1997. The whole song is about having lice in your vagina.

  • Paul Andrews

You’d have to go a long way to make Lucy Punch unattractive – she’s a babe.

  • Rich

The PI movie that Greg couldn’t remember with the cases of Tab is Zero Effect with Bill Pullman and Ben Stiller.
