David Schwimmer’s Trust Trailer Starring Clive Owen

Revenge films still seem to be in vogue these days – at least they keep getting made, anyway. As the latest example, we have the trailer for David Schwimmer’s (yes, that David Schwimmer) new film Trust. The story appears all too familiar as a young girl (Liana Liberato) makes friends with a boy online, only to find out that she’s been talking to a pedophile. When she becomes the victim of sexual assault, her parents (Catherine Keener and Clive Owen) are naturally devastated, and her father soon wants to initiate his own brand of justice.

The film will obviously be compared to Taken and will aim for the same audience. While I admire Schwimmer for branching out, this looks pretty middle-of-the-road based on the trailer. Hopefully I’m wrong because I like the cast and would hate to see them wasted. Trust will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this September. Check out the trailer after the jump.

Will anyone really care about a “fear the internet” story in 2010?

looks better than edge of darkness…but we’ll see.

It looks pretty cool, though a bit too similar to Taken/Edge of Darkness for me. And does anyone take these internet predator stories now that Chris Hansen’s turned it into reality TV?
