The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader Trailer

It looked for a while there like the Narnia series might be in trouble, especially since the last movie The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian didn’t do quite as well as they had hoped ($419 million worldwide as opposed to the first film’s $745 million), but fortunately it now seems to be back on track with the next installment planned for a December release. Whether or not it will be able to win back the general public remains to be seen, but with a year of disappointing blockbusters, I think this is one that could surprise people.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader was originally published as the third book in C.S. Lewis’ series, although when I read them as a kid it was the fifth. The story finds Lucy, Edmund and their cousin Eustace returning to Narnia where they show up aboard King Caspian’s ship, as he sails out to find the seven lost Lords of Narnia. I seem to remember the book being one of my favourites and it looks like the movie will do it justice, with the kids facing all kinds of interesting adventures. I didn’t expect to be quite so excited about the return of Narnia, but I’m actually pumped for this. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader hits theatres on December 10th; check out the first trailer after the jump.

I know that’s a little of an off topic question,

Anyone outthere who knows about semiproCamcorders.

.. I am thinking of buying a new Camera, and I would like to Ask people like Jay about his Panasonic 2p experience, Do you use MiniDVD any more? or its just waste of money to buy a Panasonic HVX200a instead of an AG hpx171e or a Sony HDR-AX2000 that are practically just like hvx200a only cheaper and without a Minidv tape..

The Sony HDR-AX2000 has a more glossy image and suppose to do better with dark shots but no 2p technology nor the DVC PRO HD. It has the SD MPEG2 format and two normal sd cards.
Plus the Panasonic Hpx171e has a sweet 5 year warranty..

    What is the best choice?

    a) panasonic hvx200a
    b) panasonic hpx171e
    c) Sony HDR-AX2000

    Thanks in advance..

  • This would be a good question to post on the Film Junk Forum.

    “In digital 3D”

    Oh yay… :/

Narnia was horrible from the first movie, and i am sure this one will bee even more retarded. The whole franchise is a waste of money.

I for one enjoyed Prince Caspian and thought that it was a much darker and mature film than the first. That said I’m excited for the 3rd installment but am disappointed with the reduction in production values. You can tell that they cut the budget on this simply from the way Aslan looks. The same goes for the other animal characters, the rendering just isn’t as believable as it was in the last film. Hopefully they tweak the visuals before the release.

  • I’m with Marc, I’ve enjoyed the films up to this point so I am looking forward to the next one.

What happened to the older brother and sister, Sean?

Shouldn’t they be in it too? I remember they returned in Prince Caspian but I don’t see them here. What happened?

  • I don’t think they’re in the book. They’re tied up with obligations back in the real world or something.

i can’t get past the bad acting in these movies

  • kyriacos

    oh, yes.. the forum..

Do people actually use that thing?

  • kyriacos

Ok Sean, I registered to the forum and created a new post..
    Now what?

  • Now you wait for a response!

I actually moved your post to a new section of the forum that I just created, specifically for discussion about filmmaking equipment and advice. I know we have a bunch of aspiring filmmakers out there, so hopefully some people will be able to help you out.

  • kyriacos

    Oh nice, thanks sean.

The older 2 siblings don’t return to Narnia until the very last book in the series, it had something to do with them maturing beyond the confines of their fairytale world. The new kid (Eustace) is the siblings’ annoying cousin who is dragged into it, he becomes the male protagonist for The Silver Chair.

Ironically, even though the movie was passed over to Fox, it still looks more Disney than Disney, with its pastel colours, piratey theme etc.

PS: Getting tired of film trailers reusing the same handful of tracks over and over. This is Heart Of Courage, the same one used in the Mass Effect 2 trailer and many others. If I hear Requiem For A Dream one more time, I’ll pull out my hair.

You think the next Narnia movie will be The Silver Chair or do you think they’ll just skip to the last book?

    @Steve @Sean

Also, is that Prince Caspian in the trailer?
