It’s so weird that people in the forums were concerned about the stress of managing two stores taking a toll on Greg’s health before this podcast went up and now it’s confirmed.

You guys should have brought Reed in for the podcast.

  • kyriacos

This episode has more perverted sexual undertone than splice!

    Just how I like it..

  • pcch7

I would love to get my hands on the mp3 of “The Ballad of Chaco” if it´s possible to download anywhere.

  • black eyed piss

jay compares black people to dogs and cats…

  • wow…really disappointed you didn’t “get” Mystery Team at all Sean. Really hoped Filmjunk would give it more love…for anyone out there that likes Napoleon Dynamite or say The Brothers Solomon you might like this… I should write a review (saw the traveling Derrick Comedy showing of Mystery Team here in Chicago at The Music Box)

if you dont think danny glover would make a good spiderman check out his “white people apocalypse” piece—donald-glover—live-forever/

    danny? hmm

  • igor

  • Rus, I was also disappointed that I didn’t “get” Mystery Team. Although to be honest I feel like I did “get” it, but I just didn’t find it that funny. I laughed a few times, but mostly at the supporting characters.

  • Regarding black Spider-Man:

Instead of asking ‘why can’t Spider-Man be black?’, why not ask Marvel/DC why there aren’t more iconic black superheroes?

I think it’s no mystery that Donald Glover is strategically tapping in to the racial sensitivities of a bunch of white comic book nerds and studio execs who are scared to say ‘Spidey is white’.

I would have no problem with a black Spider-Man as long as it wasn’t used as a peace offering by Marvel or the fans in response to the lack of top tier African American superheroes. It seems like a shame — and borderline insulting — to simply re-appropriate an iconic white character rather than get behind one of the many established black heroes. Why not get some fan support behind a new Spawn film? Or throw some support behind a Luke Cage film? Hell…if there were ever a role someone like Donald Glover should’ve fought for it’s The Green Lantern! Why was there no fan outrage about this?

  • you’re confusing the issue, the guy just asked for the auditions to be open. why is it Hollywood is the last entertainment business (including sports as entertainment) that can prescribe who gets to “interview” for performance jobs based on race?! maybe Spiderman is not the best example, but I think its interesting that a business that does a poor job of writing character traits that can be singled out as a certain race, can exclude whole groups by simply labeling a character “white” in a script or call sheet. Maybe its time for the audition process to change. Its still subjective and up to the actor themselves to convince the powers-that-be to hire them. There are countless examples of directors never thinking about one role or another being changed by gender or race and DISCOVERING a whole new dynamic when those different gender/races are allowed a shot. Its just an audition, like REHEARSAL its the place to EXPERIMENT. You of all people, Jay, should know this.

  • I once saw Phantom of the Opera with a black Phantom, why? he had the best voice when they cast the part.

  • “you’re confusing the issue, the guy just asked for the auditions to be open.”

I haven’t read anything about the auditions being closed to black actors. It was my understanding that he was petitioning to get an audition in general, not to open auditions up to different races. Although to be honest, I haven’t really read anything about any of this because in the end I don’t really care.

“Its just an audition, like REHEARSAL its the place to EXPERIMENT. You of all people, Jay, should know this.”

Thanks for the slap on the wrist Rus.
