John Carpenter seems to be back in the swing of things lately. He’s currently finishing work on his upcoming film The Ward, and now its being reported that the horror legend has signed on to a new film entitled Fangland. Described as an update of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the new project is based on a novel by former 60 Minutes producer John Marks. The story focuses on New York-based producer Evangeline Harker who travels to Transylvania for an interview with an arms dealer. Of course, the producer gets more than a story as creepy events start to unfold.
There’s already some casting news as Hilary Swank has signed on to star as the producer. Fangland will be produced by DAS Films and Blumhouse Prods. I look forward to a good Carpenter film and, hopefully, both The Ward (opening this September) and Fangland will be a return to form after quite a few years away. Maybe he can inject some old-fashioned 80’s style thrills into cinemas the same way that Raimi’s Drag Me to Hell did last year. Are you excited about his return to the big screen?
