Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Trailer #2

The new trailer for Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World has been “unlocked” this week as the movie’s Facebook page surpassed 100,000 fans over the weekend. As previously stated, this is one of my most anticipated movies of the year, but now that the sheer excitement of seeing the first trailer has faded a bit, I’m starting to wonder if this will be the movie I want it to be. I’m afraid of hyping it up too much in my own mind.

This second trailer shows a lot more of the characters including Kieran Culkin as Scott’s gay roommate Wallace Wells, Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) as Julie Powers, and Mark Webber and Alison Pill as the other two members of Scott’s band Sex Bob-omb. The visuals and action sequences still look like a blast, but the one thing that seems to fall a bit flat so far is the offbeat humour. Hopefully it can survive the transition from the page to the screen. Either way, this is a minor quibble about what is sure to be a pretty unique flick, and I certainly trust Edgar Wright to make it all work. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World hits theatres on August 13th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

This was the best thing ever to wake up.

I think I might be getting tired of Michael Cera’s shtick. He kind of acts the same in all his films.

Also though I think the visuals are cool the dialogue does not seem funny. I think this might be a rental for me. The 2nd trailer looks worst than the first.

  • Awesome trailer. I think I might like Michael Cera in this.

  • Colin

    Gets better and better…

  • hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I feel some influence on the filmmaker by one of the best films of 2008 – SPEEDRACER, yeah I said it

  • Napalm

donno much about Scott Pilgrim but i’m super pumped for another Edgar Wright movie!

  • Ryan

Maybe i’m not the demographic on this movie and i’ve not read the comic book but is there any more to this than whats shown in the trailer, i.e. boy fights evil ex’s videogame style till he gets the girl? I get that it looks ‘cool’ but it just does not make me want to go to the theatre to watch. I loved Kick Ass btw…..

  • theman

I think its a for gone conclusion that Jay will hate this will every fiber of his being. Looks awesome to me though. This is 2 way after inception…

  • I would totally watch it… if I wasn’t going to be in a Third World country at the time.

    Damn.

  • Colin_G

I like the new trailer even more than the first. Looks like so much fun.

  • I’ll wait until I actually see the film before I pass final judgment, but the sound effects seem really unnecessary (and annoying). I’m a fan of the comic and an even bigger fan of Edgar Wright, but comics have written sound effects for a good reason. I’ll puke If every mundane sound gets a written translation (as it seems in the trailer).

although i like the look of the film will anything happen other than him fighting the ex boyfriends and getting the girl? it seems to put a clip from every scene in the movie

  • Juniper

The best thing about that trailer was the glimpse of Cera in a retro CBC t-shirt. Nice.

  • Ben

While I’d love to be excited about the newest Edgar Wright flick, this looks lame. It seriously just looks like everything I hate about hipster geeks and (for some reason) facebook rolled into one. I call lame.

  • Peter

Does absolutely nothing for me. Yawn.

  • Tomoo

Wow I am stunned, this looks so awesome! The movie in August and the final book in the series in July? Pilgrim heaven.

  • Jason

This looks just like Kick-Ass. Another stupid teen movie with just a little twist. Well Kick-Assed was an unberable piece of shit, and i don’t really expect anything else from this.

  • Antho42

It might be a good blockbuster, but, it probably bomb in the boxoffice. It looks to be too hipsterish for a major audience. Plus, there is a growing backlash against Michel Cera.

  • Marc

This looks pretty lame all around. I’m sure the hipsters will love it though!

  • Steve

Looks… interesting? I suppose? Though I agree, I’m kinda tired with Michael Cera being Michael Cera in every goddamn movie. We got it in Juno, Year One, Nick and Norah, now this.

The visuals look alright, but I trust Edgar Wright to make it more fun than the trailer suggests.

    And yes, SPEED RACER rocks
