Jesse Eisenberg seems to be growing into one of Hollywood’s busiest young actors. Within the past month, both his films Solitary Man and Holy Rollers were released and he also recently wrapped work on David Fincher’s The Social Network. Now, news has arrived that Eisenberg will re-team with his Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer for the new comedy 30 Minutes Or Less. Already on board are Aziz Ansari, Danny McBride, Michael Pena, and Nick Swardson. The film’s premise revolves around a junior high history teacher (Ansari) and a pizza-delivery man (Eisenberg) who find themselves forced to rob a bank after one gets a bomb vest strapped onto them. While not much more than the basic premise is known right now, it was announced that a summer start date has been planned.
While I wasn’t in love with Zombieland, it was still an enjoyable comedy that didn’t wear out its welcome. Fleischer certainly proved that he has potential as a director, especially when it comes to visuals. As for the overall casting of this project, I have to say it intrigues me to hear this combination of actors will be working together. I’d consider myself a fan of all the actors mentioned above and I could see them balancing each other out well. Hopefully Eisenberg will be given a little more to do than his usual neurotic nerd performances (which are fine, I’d just like to see something more from him), but I somehow doubt it. Even though 30 Minutes Or Less is only in the early development stage right now, I’m looking forward to what they make of it.
