Cue Twilight Zone theme. Less than half a year after the death of actress Brittany Murphy, her husband, Simon Monjack, has been found dead. The cause of death has yet to be released, but the only thing known so far is that his mother-in-law found him in his residence in California in the master bedroom around 9:30 PM on Sunday. She immediately called for help, only for the paramedics to pronounce his death upon arrival. Monjack, who died at the age of 39, leaves no children behind.

Monjack, like his late wife, worked in the movie business, but as a writer, director and producer. His body of work consisted of just two movies though: the 2001 drama Two Days, Nine Lives, which he co-wrote, directed and produced, and the 2006 drama Factory Girl, which he wrote the story for and executive produced. All in all, Monjack was mostly known for being Murphy’s other half, and for suing (without much luck) Warner Brothers over the fact that they chose not to ask Murphy back for the sequel to the 2006 animated film Happy Feet.

Some believe that Monjack’s death was a suicide due to his inability to cope with the death of Murphy, but it is just a rumor and most likely a completely unfounded one too. If it is a mere coincidence, however, it sure is creepy.
