Will Nathan Fillion Have a Role in Joss Whedon’s Avengers?

There’s no question that ever since he landed the starring role on Joss Whedon’s Firefly, Nathan Fillion has amassed an army of fans who will gladly follow him just about anywhere. There have been fan-made trailers and campaigns pushing for Fillion to land roles in a number of comic book movies (in particular, Green Lantern), but thus far, his superhero exploits have been limited to comedies such as Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and James Gunn’s upcoming film Super. However, with Joss Whedon now directing The Avengers movie, a lot of people are hoping he can somehow bring Fillion along for the ride as well.
There is a rumour currently circulating right now that Nathan Fillion may have indeed landed the role of Henry Pym aka Ant-Man, who is still supposedly getting his own solo film courtesy of Edgar Wright. An inside source supposedly told Marvelous News that he is “pretty much locked” for the part, although Wright himself has since denied it. He does seem a little older than some the actors that Marvel has been casting lately, but after hiring Joss Whedon, it’s clear that geek credibility is also important to them. Do you believe this rumour, and if so, is Nathan Fillion the right man to play Ant-Man?
