Jack Nicholson to Star in The Hangover for Seniors: Last Vegas

Yep, it looks like we’ve got another knockoff of The Hangover on the way, with this one potentially starring Jack Nicholson and a bunch of old guys. Sounds like it’s going to be one hell of a party. The movie is called Last Vegas (get it?) and is about four longtime friends from the ’50s who head to Vegas to celebrate the wedding of Billy, the only remaining unmarried member of the group. All hell breaks loose when Billy and one of the other members of the group both try to win the heart of the same lounge singer. Jack Nicholson is reportedly in talks to play Billy.
On the one hand, this seems like a perfect role for Nicholson, but on the other hand, do we really need to see him in another comedy about old guys trying to reclaim their youth? I never saw The Bucket List, but the trailer just kind of made me embarrassed for the guy. I think he can still be funny when given the right material, but the script for Last Vegas is written by Dan Fogelman (Fred Claus, Cars), which doesn’t do much to inspire confidence. Do you think this idea has potential or will it just be way too predictable and lame? Should Jack Nicholson join Leonard Nimoy and retire already?
