Beastly Trailer Starring Vanessa Hudgens

beastlytrailer

The Twilight-ification of culture continues with this modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast called Beastly. Based on the book by Alex Flinn, it stars Alex Pettyfer (Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker) as Kyle Kingson, a popular and wealthy teenager who gets cursed by a goth chick (Mary Kate Olsen) after he stands her up at the school dance. He transforms into a hideously deformed creature and is banished by his father to live in seclusion in a house in Brooklyn. While here he is schooled by a blind tutor (Neil Patrick Harris), and finds true love after promising to protect the daughter of a drug addict (Vanessa Hudgens). No, I’m not making any of this up.

The movie is directed by Daniel Barnz (Phoebe in Wonderland) and is produced by CBS Films, the same people behind Extraordinary Measures and The Back-up Plan. I can’t quite figure out if it’s supposed to be part comedy, but it looks to me like it’s taking itself a little too seriously for that. Either way, I like the fact that the “Beast” in this case, actually looks like a pretty cool dude… just a bad ass with some killer tribal tats and a few weird piercings on his face. Beastly hits theatres on July 30th, one month after The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Will this end up being a big hit? Check out the trailer after the jump.

The best thing is that until I got to “No, I´m not making any of this up.” I was gonna write, are you making this up?.. This is riddiculus beyond belief, the cast, the story, just everything.. Maybe it´ll be so bad it´s good.

so i caught this one at Screening and let me tell you something: it was beyond my expectations. i always believe that Hudgens was the most talented high school musical member and she has been improving since bandslam and now with this. twilight sucks and this is definetly not twilight at all. it’s beautiful, well written and well acted which is kind of surprising. dont let people tell ya that this is the new twilight because it’s not, it’s actually really mature. i hope that this movie does well( between slepper hit or a hit ). it deserve this
    ps: expect a happy ending.

  • Holy fuck. I am so there opening night.

Uuuummmm I think Disney did this a long time ago, only it was called ‘Beauty and the Beast’

  • Ray

    possibly the worst plot ever

MTV, Death Cab for Cutie, Mary Kate Olsen….wow. This could be the movie equivalent of the brown note. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_note

At least all the feminists who got their period over the horrible message in Twilight, can breathe a sigh of relief that this movie takes it back to the “guy-is-an-asshole-and-should-praise-his-lucky-stars-a-girl-is-there-to-rescue-him-from-himself”, which seems a much more acceptable notion.

Question 1: Why is he turning into a Klingon?

Question 2: Why is Neil Patrick Harris in this film? Can’t he do better?

This movie takes itself way too seriously for it to win any cheesy endearment points. The main guy is way too cocky to be sympathetic and the entire premise is so goddamn awful, I’ll be surprised if half the people involved don’t have trouble finding work after it.

Can you say “Penelope” Only minus the curse, and ridiculous acting.
