Darren Aronofsky to Direct Rachel Weisz in Jackie Kennedy Biopic

Darren Aronofsky is currently in post-production on his upcoming thriller Black Swan, but once that wraps up, it is looking like he will continue to distance himself from the stalled Robocop remake. According to Entertainment Weekly, Aronofsky has signed on to direct and produce Jackie, a Jackie Kennedy biopic following the days immediately after JFK’s assassination. Attached in the lead role is none other than Aronofsky’s fiancee, Rachel Weisz.

The spec script, which was written by Noah Oppenheim, has been getting a lot of buzz around Hollywood and was at one point rumoured to be turned into an HBO series by Steven Spielberg. Obviously having Aronofsky on board is a pretty big deal… could this be his first attempt at something with Oscar potential? On the other hand, it sounds a bit dry and stuffy for a director who usually works with much edgier material. Aronofsky and Weisz previously worked together on The Fountain, so it will be an interesting to see what comes of this collaboration.

I’m very pleasantly surprised, it’s an almost perfect match. Weisz is one of the few actresses who has the acting chops and looks to match Jackie Kennedy. It’s one of the few ‘great casting choices’ I’ve seen in recent years which includes Morgan Freeman (Nelson Mandela) and Audrey Tatou (Coco Chanel)

Jackie Kennedy was a rich dump bitch .. I don’t feel like i wonna see a movie about her .. i would much rather see an Aronofsky Robocop Film.. instead..

  • BORING. Wtf? I’ve never understood why people are so obsessed with this woman. Because she fucked an assassinated president? That script better be amazing.

  • its been described as a “biopic following the days immediately after JFK’s assassination. showing her grace and morning….” I don’t know, doesn’t that one line sum it up? she had to do two things at once, great. why an entire movie? I can see it as a good film for women to get a better sense of Jackie, but why Darren? Could be his and Rachel’s “Swept Away” :)

Just add him to the long list of directors who have directed their girlfriends/wives.
