The Other Guys Trailer Starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg

The Other Guys

I know a lot of people have been waiting for this, so now here it is… the first official trailer for Adam McKay’s The Other Guys starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg! It’s a parody of buddy cop movies with Ferrell and Wahlberg playing a pair of New York police detectives, one of whom prefers to play it safe and fill out paperwork all day, while the other yearns to be out on the street in the middle of the action. When they are given the chance to step up their game like the city’s two top cops, Highsmith and Danson (Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson), they seize the opportunity… and then fail miserably.

Like most of McKay and Ferrell’s movies, it’s a little hard to judge what this will be like from the trailer alone. Their funniest material is usually the weird and partially improvised bits, which generally don’t help sell the movie to the general public. As such, the trailer didn’t really make me laugh, but I think Ferrell and Wahlberg seem to have good chemistry together. I’m also glad to see that Steve Coogan is in it. What do you think, does this have the potential to live up to such classics as Anchorman or Step Brothers? The Other Guys hits theatres on August 6th; check out the trailer after the jump.

  • Too bad this didn’t come out before Cop Out. Kevin Smith could have taken notes.

  • Adam McKay is a genius. This is looking great. I especially loved the rant about Hollywood in the end. Classic Ferrell!

  • Niklas

  • Dave

note 1 on Kevin Smith’s note pad should have been to make his movie not garbage.

  • I think this looks great. :D I love Wahlberg… I love Ferrell… and I like the Wooden Gun.

  • @Dave

Yeah, that would have been a good start.

  • Brendan

Yeah, it looks good. I was laughing out loud (that’s “loling” to you kids out there).
I noticed the guy that played David Wallace on The Office was the jumper. And a Michael Keaton sighting to boot!
