Juan Carlos Fresnadillo to Direct The Intruders Starring Clive Owen

28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is lining up a new project over at Universal that could be worth keeping an eye on. The movie is called The Intruders, and it is revolves around “an 11-year-old girl who is forced to confront childhood demons”. The movie will star Clive Owen and Daniel Bruhl (Inglourious Basterds, The Bourne Ultimatum), and is based on a script by Jaime Marques and Nico Casariego. (I’m assuming that neither Owen nor Bruhl will play the 11-year-old girl.) This will be an English language film that is co-financed by Spanish media company Antena 3, with a projected budget of $20 million.
Juan Carlos Fresnadillo has a few other projects currently in development that I’ve been looking forward to including a remake of X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes and the Bioshock movie, but it sounds like this will probably take priority over both of those. Hopefully The Intruders is just a movie to fill in the gap, and this doesn’t mean that either of those movies have hit major roadblocks. It starts shooting in June.
